Dismantling Disproportionality:

A Restorative Approach

Disproportionality is the outcome of institutionalized racism and bias that result in discriminatory beliefs, policies, and practices, which negatively affect historically marginalized groups in contrast to privileged groups.

Restorative Justice (RJ) is a community-based approach to building, repairing and restoring relationships. At its best, RJ provides a space for community members to be held accountable while participating in the creation of pathways to repair. It encourages stakeholders to reflect upon how their values and beliefs impact the greater community.

Through the Youth TAC-D and Youth RJ's Youth Summit, we will elevate students to be essential voices in the effort to foster an inclusive, humanizing and critical learning environment for all members of our school community.
