What is Youth Summit NYC?

Students and Educators for Equity brings together a collective of youth leaders and adult allies to explore how restorative practices can dismantle inequities through community-building and youth-adult partnership. Attendees have opportunities to learn, connect, collect resources, and identify best practices that foster more inclusive and humanizing learning environments for all.

Youth Summit FAQ

WHEN IS YOUTH SUMMIT NYC?

Youth Summit NYC takes place every year in June on Chancellors PD Day.

HOW CAN I PRESENT AT YOUTH SUMMIT NYC?

Teams that are interested in presenting at Youth Summit NYC must apply through our Call for Proposals application. We invite all -- youth organizing groups, youth leadership councils, youth-adult partnership programs, and other organizations that aim to elevate youth voices -- to present a workshop session, exhibit a resource table, contribute artwork, or deliver a performance. Sign up for our mailing list to be notified when the application comes out in February.

WHAT  TOPICS DO WORKSHOPS FOCUS ON?

We encourage presenters to tell the story of their work and journeys. Workshops should relate to restorative practices, equity work, and/or youth-adult partnership efforts. Some examples include: school discipline, restorative justice, youth organizing strategies/campaigns, civic participation, school-to-prison pipeline, youth agency/voice, culturally responsive education...but the possibilities are endless!

WHO IS SEE?

SEE is a youth-led program within the NYC Public Schools' Office of Safety and Youth Development.

Students and Educators for Equity (SEE) is a family of schools that is dedicated to building community, dismantling disproportionality, and fostering equity through restorative practices and authentic youth-adult partnership. It is a laboratory for shared learning among schools that are deeply engaged in youth-led restorative practices and equity work.
